Favorite Chapter Books

I’ve always been a reader and when my oldest started to take interest, I was thrilled! One of Paisley and I’s favorite things to do is to curl up under a blanket and dive into a good book. It’s been fun re-reading some of my old favorites as well as the classics. Scout is starting to get into some younger series like Hank the Cowdog and those usually make us belly laugh to tears. If you haven’t listened to the podcast, it’s a must!

I wanted to share just a few favorite chapter books of ours. Most we’ve already read but some are also on our list. We stated reading one chapter book out loud together this year and it’s been so fun and something I look forward to doing with the girls.

I plan to share a few “themed book” posts later this year but this is a good start to adding some greats you’ll want in your home library. We also have checked several of these out and returned too.

  • Where the Red Fern Grows
  • The Boxcar Children Series
  • Hank the Cowdog Series
  • Little House on the Prairie
  • The Chronicles of Narnia
  • The Trumpet of the Swan
  • Because of Winn-Dixie
  • Charlotte’s Web
  • Shiloh
  • Hatchet
  • Holes
  • The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
  • The Indian in the Cupboard
  • Little Women
  • Thimble Summer
  • Where the Sidewalk Ends
  • Strawberry Girl
  • Sarah, Plain and Tall
  • Just Dance
  • Coyote Sunrise
  • Heartland Series
  • Nancy Drew Series
  • A Year Down Yonder
  • Buffalo Gal

Bill Wallace is a Oklahoma Author and one of my absolute favorties from when I was a kid. Here’s a compilation of several I love and have shared with the girls.

  • Upchuck and the Rotten Willy
  • Watchdog and the Coyotes
  • A Dog Called Kitty
  • Beauty
  • Danger in the Quicksand Swamp
  • The Flying Flea, Callie, and Me
  • Snot Stew
  • Red Dog

You can find all of these books mentioned above on my storefront using this link here.

I saw this idea on a friend’s post and wanted to make one to share with those who read my blog too. Enjoy this fun, free reading printable to use for your kiddos so they can write down their reading lists!

Be sure to tag me if you end up using it! I’d love to see all of the books on them. Comment below with some of you and your kid’s favorite books.

I love many of these books, and to the classics I would add Anne of Green Gables and The Story Girl by L. M. Montgomery. I also love a few newer ones, including Greetings from Witness Protection by Jake Burt, the Mr. Lemoncello series by Chris Gravenstein, The Mysterious Benedict Society series by Trenton Lee Stewart (now a Disney+ series), and the Masterminds series by Gordon Korman.
