Summer Tablescape

Summer Tablescape

I recently freshened up the kitchen table with a new centerpiece. I try to change it up seasonally with things we have around the house. I ended up reusing a few items that were already there like the garden tray and beaded garland. Another item I use often instead of runners are calf hides! The give a more rustic feel and are easy to clean. The "vase" was an old crock I had in the cabinet with a $10 grocery store bouquet. I love having fresh flowers in the house all summer. Most of the time we pick wild flowers but I couldn't pass up these pretty blooms. I splurged on a new candle the other day and the adorable Brahma shakers are from one of my favorite thrift sites, Single Wide Style. The frame is from my store and the sheds Zack brought home after spraying in the tractor a few weeks ago. I love when we finds me things like that. It doesn't take a lot to give a space a fresh new...

Flying Spade Favorites

Flying Spade Favorites

If you've poked around on my instagram for any period of time, you know how big of a fan I am of Flying Spade Co. May is a dear friend of mine and everything she does is handcrafted from scratch with genuine leather and old chap hide that is top notch quality. We started carrying her items in 2019, debuting them at the NFR in our booth and have been stocking them since. I wanted to share a bit of my personal collection I've slowly gathered piece by piece. Many of these I have in my store such as the conchos, stamped book marks, bleed knots, and braided hoops. I love how light weight and versatile they are. You can literally wear them with anything. I pair them with denim and a cute graphic tee or throw them with a dress and my tooled leather heels like in the photo below. I have a very different "style" I guess you could say. I never gravitate towards what's trendy or "in" rather I...

A Letter To My Girls on Their Childhood

A Letter To My Girls on Their Childhood

To my little girls of the prairie,⁣When you are grown, I hope you remember how rich your childhood was unplugged. I hope you remember long summer days playing in pastures, riding your cowponies, picking paintbrush, and letting your imagination determine afternoon plans. ⁣⁣I hope you remember exploring in the creek, hunting for arrowheads, witnessing new life come into this world as you watched a new calf being born, and fishing at the pond. ⁣⁣I hope when you’re grown, you never forget to look up at night to see the bright stars, the magic of an Oklahoma sunset, or the memories that resurface of riding with your Dad in the tractor when you smell fresh cut hay. ⁣⁣I hope you drive with your windows down and play our favorite songs that were on repeat when you were little. I hope you read the same books we’d get lost in and relive the stories with your own kids. ⁣⁣I hope when you’re grown,...

Our Master Bedroom

Our Master Bedroom

I'm excited to finally share our master bedroom with you all! Of course, there are still some things I'd like to change over time (like planking the walls and new trim) but I love how it is for now. I'll link everything below! If you share to Pinterest, please tag and give proper credit. This was one of my first Farm Girl Home Design Projects before I start taking on clients. I needed to build up a portfolio of some different rooms and decided, why not my own? I'm a big neutral girl so everything has a pretty calm tone with a few pops of color. It makes adding things easy when the color pallet isn't all over the place. Our headboard was custom made and a Christmas gift about 5 years ago. The brand pillow was from my store when we started making them about 6 years ago but we no longer offer them. I've had these floating boot shelves for over 5 years now in this evolving corner but I...

The Barn Project

The Barn Project

We spent the weekend helping my parents fix up the old barn at the cattle lots on the ranch. This beauty is old but I love the character and the stories it could tell. The horse stalls at the other barn just aren't functional and quite a ways from where the arena will be. This area provides a lot more cover and will be handy to have everything in one spot. The north side is now opened up and three stalls were built, each with a run for the horses to get some sun and graze. Does anyone remember my old mason jar lights that hung in my store on main? Each stall will have a fixture. They are all LED and I might have changed two bulbs the entire 6 years they hung in my store. The pitch is super high so we won't have an issue with a horse touching them and they will give the stalls some fun character. I plan to stain all of the wood to give it a more rustic feel. We still have to run...

Tybee

Tybee

As promised, here are all the details of our 2021 family vacation. We decided to venture to Tybee Island, Georgia and it might be our favorite spot ever. We like to try new places but loved this area so much, it might just have to be our annual thing from here on out. I'll list all of the details below, links, etc. I'm also going to give a few tips and tricks to help make your trip run a bit more smoothly. I'm finally realizing these "hacks" make a vacation much more enjoyable for mom. I've found when we book ahead of time, it's not so overwhelming to plan and pay for a vacation. I booked this over a year ago and what I love about doing so is that I can put a deposit down and pay throughout the year. We have been trying to be more intentional with less stuff and more experiences, so this was a huge part of the girls birthdays and Christmases as well as our own. So worth it! You can...
