A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was create
We went back to our favorite, happy place again in May. I shared about our first trip to Tybee here and our whole family loved it so much we came back. Zack and I would love to have a home here one day and rent it out. It’s such a neat place and what I love the most is that they haven’t modernized it. It’s just an old beach town and one of the most chill places we’ve ever been to. I could turn into a beach bum super quick. We didn’t do much different than last year-we are all about relaxing and eating good food while on vacation so the majority of this post will be pictures. We did tour the light house this year and that was a neat experience and went back for another dolphin tour. We always enjoy that.
Oh, we did drive this time. It was pretty exhausting making the trek from Okieland to Georgia but it’s nice having your own vehicle and being able to stop and see things which I will go into more detail later in the post with a couple of spontaneous pit stops that turned into some neat experiences. On the way down we got to see Elvis’ birth place in Tupelo, MS.
Also, we rented a golf card again and we will never NOT do a golf cart. Golf carts are a way of life on the island and it’s our main transportation the entire time we are there. Best beach wagon ever. I explained this in last year’s post because I’ve gotten smart about when we travel and we do not have this luxry that is instacart where we live. But, instacart your groceries before you arrive. Ours were waiting for us when we got there and it’s so nice because we do breakfast, lunch, and snacks and then eat out for dinner at night.
My mom and Zack surprised the girls and she flew in for a couple of days so we got to show her around one of our favorite places. It’s never long enough here, we always want to stay more days each time we come back.
Making our way back to Okie Land and had a pit stop at the neatest place EVER. If you’re in the peach capitol of the world, you make time. 🍑 We had lunch, filled up on the juiciest peaches, and picked our own strawberries before we left. 🍓
This is why we drive because we’d miss so many fun opportunities like this. If you’re in the area, a stop at Lane Orchards is a must!
We drove a good leg of our trip the first day home and did something that was on a whim and one I never thought we’d see. On our way down to Tybee, I was searching for something we could experience on our way home and looked up where Harper Lee grew up. I’ve always wanted to see it and it just so happened that they would be doing their live To Kill a Mockingbird play that Saturday on our our trip back. So we got tickets and a room.
My favorite book of all time and where we got our Scout from. It was so good and it was pretty surreal sitting right in the middle of history. The play was half outside and half in the original courthouse. Mockingbirds were everywhere and their music filled the town square. We had dinner at Courthouse Cafe (boo burgers) and stayed in The Faulk Building, where Harper’s friend Capote’s home used to be next to. Capote is famous for writing Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Road trips aren’t always the most fun thing but you’d miss out on so much if you didn’t drive. I’m so thankful we got to show Scout where she came from.
“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”
Our last stop yesterday was to visit @laurelmercantile & @scotsman.co – Paisley loves watching their design show and their stores were so good. We had a snowball while we visited and shopped around both of their stores.
I’m so thankful for another adventure with family.
