Paisley had her first school project due today and we had a blast making it together. All of the kids at her school are putting together a storybook pumpkin patch at the library. Kids were to transform a pumpkin into one of their favorite book characters. Over the last month, I’ve started to read the Junie B Jones series to Paisley. They were some of the first chapter books I started reading as a little girl and I knew Paisley would love this silly and onrey Kindergarten girl. I was a little worried since they are chapter books and less pictures but she has really enjoyed them and I try to be as animated and “like” Junie as can be.
Since we are really into the series right now, we chose to do Junie from “Junie B. Has a Monster Under Her Bed.”
We got together at my parent’s house and since our Grand is in town, she helped us with the project which made this whole night even more fun. Paisley helped me paint the pumpkin and then Grand and Paisley made all of the hair from different colors of yarn. While I hot glued it on, Grand read the book which was too cute while we assembled Junie. We used a combo of Junk Gypsy paint from Farm Girl to do her face. The bow was from a roll of glitter tulle I had laying around the shop.
Paisley was so proud of her and had fun telling her friends all about how Junie thought there was a monster living under her bed in the story. Too cute! A sweet memory I won’t forget. So glad Grand was a part of it.
I loved seeing the photos of so many unique pumpkins in the patch. Being a school mom is the best. Love these memories with my girls.
