A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was create
I’ve had so much fun looking back on the last 7 years of Farm Girl and sharing our story using #farmgirlruralboutiqueandgeneralstore with you all on Instagram and the blog this past week. It’s been quite a ride and I’ve truly been so blessed with all of the support and love you’ve given over the years. I have all of the posts here along with our very beginning, remodel, and grand opening.
Last night, I locked the doors at 110 E. Main for the very last time.
I thought the best way to explain what we’ve been up to for the last two months would be to write it all in a post to clear any confusion. I’ve heard there’s a lot going around so now you can know what it is for sure from the actual source. ;)
So, where do I begin?
Over the last year, I’ve felt a shift in my spirit. A feeling that I couldn’t shake that it was time for a change but I really wasn’t sure what that was. It’s no secret, 2020 was HARD but I began having this feeling before it really hit. We weathered the storm for months along with everyone else and things finally picked up around the fall. But it was my 6th year in business then and I was frustrated, exhausted, and needing something to give. I wrote this post around Black Friday and my desire for local support and shopping small was conveyed best I could. I was missing my family because I was spending so many hours trying to recoup 2020’s financial hardships and truly just needing a different pace, scenery, and balance for my business and our family. I was burnt out with our location and felt like it just didn’t fit what and who my store represented anymore.
We decided not to set up at the NFR in December because we weren’t really sure if it was wise considering all of the curve balls thrown by COVID, so instead we put up our booth at another business’s Grand Opening for a few days. I began longing to change my store into something different but wasn’t really sure what that looked like. My own headquarters on the ranch and moving to mainly online? That would be a dream for me but one that wouldn’t be attainable any time soon or maybe ever. I kept mulling over different scenarios in my head but wasn’t planning on anything to change or pan out for a couple of years.
Our holiday season ended and Zack and I went off to Broken Bow for a couple of days at the very end of December to rest and celebrate our anniversary. We had talked about the shop and what the future looked like, goals, and how we could make some changes for 2021. At this point, my friend was in the process of building a new place for their ranching operation and had made the comment before about retail in her space but when we first chatted, I never saw myself in the equation. When we were sitting at our cabin I mentioned it to him and asked what he thought about me approaching her and pitching the idea of Farm Girl taking over the space and being an asset to their new journey. It was basically what I wanted to do down the road anyway-just a different location. And if there’s anything I’ve learned over the last couple of years, community is everything and two is better than one when it comes to small business.
She came by the shop before New Years Eve and I had mentioned the idea and it took off. She said that she had no idea what they were going to do on the retail side and thought it would be a wonderful idea but that we should pray on it and for us to schedule a time to go out there to look. We did and made a list of things we wanted to do with our business, pros, cons, possibilities, etc then went to look January 5th. I had a blank canvas to look at and my creative juices started to flow. I began to envision a retail space in my mind that was fresh, new, and reflected my style.
I’ve known for awhile that it was time to lay some idols down, my expectations for what I thought Farm Girl should be, and let Him show me his plans for it. And at Christmas time, my plans sure didn’t look like this. But His are always greater than our own, and if we will just hand him the reins and let Him lead, we will be blown away at what He’s handing us on the other side of our need for control. If you know our beginning, starting Farm Girl was never in my life plan and happened within a few weeks time.
It was time for change and to make a move after 7 years on Main Street.
So on January 7th, we made the decision. As of last night, WE HAVE MOVED!
And don’t worry, we aren’t going that far. We will be about 10 minutes from our current location. I’ve contacted my reps and companies and we will still have all of our brands and your favorite things from us, plus more!
We are now located inside of the beautiful new market at Callison Ranch! We’ve been working away for two months and are almost set up and ready to open!
Remember our story on Rose a few days ago? Well, there she is! She’s finally made her way home.
I cannot tell you how excited I am for this new chapter and really want to cover as much as I can but there’s a lot so I will be doing an Instagram Live tomorrow @farmgirlada to answer any questions and also share some of our new space and behind the scenes things I’ve been recording and waiting to post until this was announced.
But here’s the cliff notes of what you need to know and be assured of:
If there’s anything I need to clarify, drop questions in the comment box and I will get them answered!
We have so many ideas and plans for this place that I cannot begin to tell you what a unique venue this will be as well as an asset to our community. Soon you’ll not only be able to get new outfits, gifts, home decor and more from us, but you’ll also be able to get your Callison Ranch Beef, locally grown produce, fresh eggs, grab a bite to eat, and more. There’s a beautiful patio by the creek with comfy furniture, to relax and stay awhile. There will also be smokers out there when Roger and Nikki plan to serve their beef to locals. Nikki has ideas to host long table suppers in the horse barn, rent out the house next to us for an AirBnB and we have a list of classes, events, and ideas to share with you all!
Over two years ago, Nikki came in to shop and I told her she should bring her beef in the store to sell and now I’m changing directions and bringing Farm Girl to her ranch. It’s funny how some things come full circle.
This might seem absolutely crazy and even a poor business move to some, but I think it’s quite opposite. It’s the best move and the ways things have unfolded for both of us are all God. To also be transparent, I’m not fully investing and making my online business what it should be or marketing my store because I just don’t have the time. This new place will allow me that and also give me help to do that. Most of my business has grown to online and most of my walk-in customers are from out of town too. Truly, this new spot feels like home. It fits what Farm Girl is, a rural boutique and general store. Hence, our new tag line. We cannot wait for you to visit! This will be more than just shopping, but a destination and a lot more accommodating for our guests.
Once again, I’m in awe at how God works out all things for our good. I’m grateful for this new season and excited for not only the changes and growth to come for my store, but also for my family.
I’d like to thank Roger and Nikki for believing in me and offering me this opportunity. I’m grateful to be surrounded by God loving people who do good, honest business and are like minded.
Thank you to our family, friends, and fire family for all of their support, help, encouragement, and time they’ve poured into us. It’s meant so much and we couldn’t have done it without them-especially getting moved. My parent’s, aunt, cousin and grandparents all pitched in to help me get this wrapped up and I even had a friend drive down to help clean last week. My husband who is always my #1 supporter and is behind the scenes a lot to help make Farm Girl function. And to my girls for the sacrifices they sometimes have to make for mom.
Thank you to Irby and Cheryl Clary. These two invest in Zack and I spiritually every week and deserve a whole post on their own soon. It’s a Farm Girl story that I want to tell and one of my biggest blessings from owning the shop. Irby volunteered his time to help make our new space absolutely stunning and took my ideas and brought them to life. They took the time to help because they wanted to and I’ll never be able to thankful them enough. We are so grateful to have them in our lives as mentors and friends.
Talia. You have turned into one of my best friends and I’ll never be able to thank you for all of the hard work you pour into my store. Your talent is impeccable and you can deliver the ideas in my brain and make them into the most beautiful art. I’m grateful for our relationship in business but also our friendship. I love our daily Marco Polo chats and creating all the fun things with you. Love you so much!
May. My little sis from another mis. You always keep our content fresh with pretty pics and not only invest in my store with your talent but you also invest in me as a friend. I’m not sure I could have made it through 2020 without you. I don’t talk to anyone as much as I talk to you daily and I’m so blessed by our friendship. I love you and am so proud of who you are and the business you have built.
To our customers. Your support over the last 7 years has meant so much. Whether that was a purchase or just a word of encouragement, you are the reason we are still here. I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for this community we have. I hope this new move also allows us to serve you in a greater and more unique way!
The best is yet to come! I’ll share more soon and would love to answer any questions you might have. Drop them below and we will catch up tomorrow!

I am from Kentucky, so I shop entirely online, if we had an account on the website with you before, will that transfer to the new website?
Basically, will we have to make a new account for online?
I can’t wait to do some online shopping you are a little far from New Mexico
Thank you for shopping with me online! That’s where the majority of my business comes from. :)
Nope-everything stays the same. :)

Thank you so much for being such an amazing loyal customer, Lexi! I appreciate you! :)
So excited for you! (Tell Cheryl Clary that Mrs. Underwood says, “Hello!” I taught her son, Caleb, and went to college with her sister, Vickie.)
I’m going to need to come look you up. My daughter and I used to stop in and shop when we came to Ada to see my Mom. She passed away from Covid on December 30 and I would love to come back to Ada.

Dana Brown
Just 4 miles south of Ada.
Congratulations, Kenzie!!
You have a heart of gold, may God continue to bless your life!
Thank you so much. :)
Hi, Congratulations on your new store! I live in the Texas Hill Country and love your clothes. However, I’m a size petite 0-2. It cost me more to have alterations done on the cute shirts I have purchased than to buy them. Just curious if you would be able to carry petite sizes
Hope to visit Okla. and your store this summer,
Thanks,
Hi Pat! Unfortunately we don’t have the customer base for the petite size run. We have minimum quantities we have to purchase per style. A lot of our items do run to XS which would fill that size but not in petite. I’m sorry we can’t accommodate you better in that way. We just usually end up losing out when we’ve invested in less common sizes in the past.
Super excited!!
Thank you!
This is so exciting! Happy for you, Kenzie!
Thank you!!!
I’m so glad I am a local shopper and look forward to supporting you even more! Congrats on the move!
I’m so glad too! :) Thank you!
