It’s Moving Day!!!

September 21, 2013

Home by Phillip Phillips on Grooveshark
I can’t believe this day is finally here!
We have waited such a long time and we are so excited to be moving into our new home today!
We are so thankful for God’s blessings and ecstatic to have a place that we own. All of the hard work has paid off and now we have the car loaded down and we’re ready to unpack!
If I am MIA, well you know were I will be! 🙂
The Ashcraft’s have finally moved.

Hospital Survival {Gift}

September 18, 2013

Good Morning readers! You may have already seen this post if you follow Wifessionals but if not, I wanted to share it on my blog as well. Kaitlyn is such a dear friend to my heart and I cannot wait until baby Rilynn is here! I decided to send her a hospital “survival” care package since she will be delivering soon.
I wanted to send her some things that I loved having during my stay when I delivered our daughter as well as some entertainment.
Her package included:
  • Mason jar with lid and straw-I always see her posting on IG, drinking coffee out of one. I thought it would be cute to take one with a lid and straw to the hospital for her ice chips.
  • Burt’s Bees and Ponds facial wipes
  • Orbit Gum-something to chew on since you cannot eat during labor.
  • Oreo Snacks for Ryan.
  • Burt’s Bee’s Chap Stick-because your lips will get chapped.
  • What To Expect When Your Expecting Movie-Love this movie! So funny and good timing right?
  • Essie Nail Polish-for a fresh pedicure before she goes to the hospital.
  • Goody Hair Ties-to pull hair back during labor.
  • Facial Mask
I got the pail at Home Depot to put everything in it and applied a chalk board label onto it.

I had so much fun gathering up this little gift for her! I remember getting one before I had Paisley and I loved it! I hope you enjoy and that his helps give you some inspiration for an expecting mommy.

Be sure to be saying some prayers for her and baby Rilynn as she will be bringing her into this world soon! 🙂

{DIY} Chalk Painted Bed

September 12, 2013

Good morning everyone! I am so excited to reveal my little DIY project I did and posted about on Instagram Monday night. I have had this {bed}room furniture since I was about 12 and my parents gave it to us when we got married. It is Attic Heirlooms and it is super nice furniture. However, I was getting tired of the wood look. I am all into the painting furniture trend. My aunt and I picked up a can of CeCe Caldwell’s one day when we were shopping. I used it first on my front door and loved it so much I decided to paint this bed that will be going in our guestroom.
What I Used:
1 Quart of CeCe Caldwell’s Natural Chalk + Clay paint in Vermont Slate
Decent Paint Brush
Half Liter of CeCe Caldwell’s Satin Finish
Two Sawhorses
To start off, I wiped off every surface of the headboard and foot board. I didn’t sand this furniture down any because it already had a distressed look.
Next, I applied the paint on evenly. The paint goes A LONG way.
Let dry for 2-4 hours {in my case I let it dry 1 hour because I am in the Oklahoma heat and it didn’t take long} But, do as they say not as I did ok? 🙂
Next I added my second coat of paint to make sure it covered every inch well and gave it a little darker color. {It will dry much lighter than when wet}
Let dry.
Lastly I applied a thin coat of satin finish for my durable topcoat. This gave my furniture a little shine but not too much while sealing the paint. I used this satin finish on my front door but also used their wax after, that is why my front door looks a little more rough and distressed. You can do either but I chose not to for the bed.
The topcoat wasn’t fully dried in this photo but you can see that it adds a little shine.
The before and after! I love how it turned out. I will be posting pictures of the guest room once I get it all fixed up.
I hope you enjoyed this little project. It literally took me an afternoon to complete and was really easy to do.
Have a great day!
