Little Things // Pursuit Gathering

I am going to start linking up again with my friend Jess and her Little Things Link-up each Wednesday! How appropriate that we are posting our same little road trip today. :) You guys, I can’t tell you how full my heart is right now. Two years ago, I heard about Pursuit 31-a conference in Rome, Georgia. It is for photographers and small business owners who share a love for the Lord and strive to keep Him as the center of their business and life. Just the experience that they shared about it left me dreaming to go. However, I didn’t own a business at that time. When I opened Farm Girl, the conference was laid on my heart again. I knew that they pretty much sold out the first day and wanted so badly to go but I didn’t want to go alone. I asked Jess and talked to her about it and on a whim one morning we had planned a trip to Georgia for a year later.
Pursuit sets up small groups in your area to meet each month. Each gathering has a different theme where we meet other women who own similar businesses and share our hearts, experiences, and love for what God is doing in our lives. My dear friend Aubrey attends the gatherings as well but due to injury couldn’t come at this time. I am so excited for next month when we can have a huge girls day for the three of us. :)

We had a pretty little table set up for us with brunch snacks and began to mingle with others we hadn’t met yet. It is such a privilege to get to know these women. We talked about balance in business and the conversation was such a blessing. We laughed, cried, and answered a lot of hard questions that personally hit home with me. It is so easy as a business owner to let it OWN your life. Getting in the way of family time, missing out on precious moments with your children, husband, and those times that you can’t take back. When we left, I felt so refreshed, rejuvenated, and inspired to tackle my work in a new and positive way. I found redirection to find balance in my work life as well as personal while setting goals and placing intimate quiet time with the Lord first.

And, oddly enough, how the conversation of trusting that He WILL move if we listen and persevere was our big message at church and Life Group on Sunday. I am so thankful for positive friendships and for people like Jess that he has placed in my life.10582855_10103052180018667_1163714129170383027_oIMG_5646Each month we get a little take home gift. These sweet little verses were provided by Southwind and I love looking at it on my jewelry cabinet while getting ready each morning. It’s a daily reminder that I am a part of something so sweet and special. I volunteered to bring gifts next month and I can’t wait to share those with you! After we left, I took Jess to a hoppin’ little burger joint in Ada and she caught up on some shopping at the store. I had a blast with her and cannot wait until next month!ItsTheLittleThings-blog (1)If you are a creative and do not have an outlet to pour your heart into and receive encouragement, I highly recommend finding a Pursuit Group. It is a game changer and so worth being a part of. Be sure to link up your little things with Jess each Wednesday! :)

Instagram post 2174910891779579900_20205771 Honoring our veterans today and everyday. My favorite is my Papa Bud. I didn’t get to have him for very long in my life but he continues to make an impact on it and has inspired me so much over the years.⁣ My dad also named me after him. ⁣⁣
⁣
His gentle character, love for family, work ethic, and devotion to country is something I’ve always admired. I could listen to stories about him for hours. He was a Kaw Indian from Newkirk/Ponca City, OK area that left for war when he was just 18. One of the few that came home from Iwo Jima, and when he got back to the states, they dropped him off in Cali and told him to figure out a way back home. He spent the rest of his life a farmer, raising 5 kids, and loving his family. My dad has the best stories about him. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
He was a big part of my Farm Girl story and why I chose the name. I so wish I had more time but I know I will some day. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Honor your veterans with how you live your life. With your gratitude. How you treat people. Freedom isn’t free. It’s a huge price we often take for granted. Without this one, I wouldn’t be here today.
