I am SO excited to share our experience at Mi Vida Loca in Beavers Bend with you all. We are so grateful for the opportunity to have been able to stay with them earlier this month in this beautiful cabin. We frequent Broken Bow every year with the kids and have enjoyed making it a fall family tradition. Tucked away in the rolling hills of Eastern Oklahoma, Mi Vida Loca was designed to create a space where life can slow down, distractions are minimized, and families and friends can reconnect with each other and nature. Filled with intentional living opportunities, this cabin offers the perfect balance of the great outdoors with the convenience of resort amenities and services.  

I love the sweet family who owns this cabin and we easily relate as a firefighter family. I love their mission behind building the cabin and what they wanted to bring to families who would stay here.

“Our chosen careers also reinforced what we were personally experiencing at a societal level. My husband was a firefighter & paramedic for 32 years and saw the damage on peoples’ bodies from this toxic stress. I, as a psychotherapist, had a front-row seat to the mental health struggles that this lifestyle created for families and children. In an effort to help, at both the intervention and prevention levels, I began public speaking on these issues within the mental health community, churches, and schools.

Armed with our collective knowledge, we knew that we wanted our cabin to be more than just a place to sleep. We wanted it to be a place where families can “get back to basics” and learn how to reconnect to each other, ground in nature, share feelings, practice gratitude, and play- all free of distractions and barriers from our stress-riddled world.

Our family had visited Eastern Oklahoma many times and we fell in love with the mountains, clear waters, towering pines, and the wildlife. We knew Broken Bow, Oklahoma area was where we wanted our cabin to be located. We loved all of the cabins we had visited in the past but really wanted to customize our cabin to better accommodate our family and guests with the features and amenities that aligned with our vision and mission.”

When we decided to build our cabin, we had 2 goals in mind:

1. To create fun experiential learning opportunities by providing a space and place for our family to connect with each other, friends, and nature.
2. To share fun experiential learning opportunities by providing a space and place for OTHER FAMILIES to connect with each other, friends, and nature.

You will see these opportunities woven throughout our cabin.  From the children’s library nook filled with quality books, feeling charts, a nugget sofa, and tons of family board games to dinnertime conversation cards, gratitude calendars, and an indoor scavenger hunt. Our hope is that you use these opportunities during your stay at Mi Vida Loca, to play, share feelings, talk, and learn more about each other and that you will continue these practices with your family when you return to your home.

These tee-pees outside were so fun for the kids. There were also swings and a community playground. One of the major benefits of the cabin is staying inside Pine Lake Resort. They have so many amenities like stocked fishing ponds, clubhouse, restaurant, walking trails, and their community pool that is an added bonus when bringing the family along.

The kids bunk room was such a neat spot and could easily sleep six alone! They had their own little hangout area and shared a bathroom with the other master bedroom upstairs. I love how she incorporated learning in every area of the cabin. The framed posters above are on my list to get for our home school room.

We enjoyed our time visiting the new Broken Bow Safari. They did an amazing job with it and there’s more to come. We also went to the bowling alley and arcade, the put-put course by the maze, and did some shopping at Cabin Daddy’s, Broken Bow Mountain Co. and Hochatime.
