I was skeptical of this one because I don’t typically jump on the bandwagon when it comes to books. But, it proved me wrong and kept my attention. I loved the story and time period it was set in. Kya’s character was so unique and I loved her grit for survival as well as compassion for the marsh around her. I crave simplistic lifestyles and stories so this one appealed to me more than most. It was so good and a nice change from what I typically read. Go use your library card and check this one out!

Zack read it with me and we both treated ourselves to a date last Sunday to watch the movie and enjoyed it just as much. Most of the time, I’m let down by the film but they did a great job with it!
