A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was create
After a lot of consideration I have decided to downsize my store to the things I design like our Farm Girl Cattle Co. t-shirt line and small gifts. I started Farm Girl 8 years ago this month and felt like God has been telling me it’s time for a new season. We aren’t going anywhere, just changing the direction Farm Girl is going. Right now that is online only. You can read all of our Farm Girl journey under this category.
We’ve had several things stacked against us the last two years that’s been a struggle. I’m burnt out and it’s taken a toll on me. Retail is tough and stocking merch from over 100 brands isn’t feasible. There’s only one me and I just can’t do it all. I touched a little on this back in 2020 with this post here: Fight For Us
You have to make choices to spend more time grinding or being with your family. Success looks so much different to me than it used to. My time would be better served raising our kids + still bringing in an income from home. My family will only be together under one roof for so long + I don’t want to miss a second of it. I wouldn’t trade a minute with our girls for a title.
I’m grateful for this journey. I spent my twenties in FG. I had kids, raised them here, met some of my best friends, and learned a lot. I worked my butt off and tried really hard. I taught myself everything + learned from the ground up. There were many nights I slept at FG to do the things I had to so we could function. Sometimes struggling isn’t from lack of trying. Sometimes, times are just hard. Those struggles really open your eyes to what matters and what is truly important.
I’m still going to have FG, it will just look different. I plan to continue on a smaller scale. My online shop will remain open + I’ll be doing more around the holidays. I have many fun projects prepared to launch this fall and I want to bring more quality to you than quantity.
I will also be focusing more on my Hayfield Meals meal planning subscription and my blog: farmgirlblogs.com as my new main source of income. I would so appreciate your support within those avenues.
With that said, thank you to everyone who’s supported me. I really appreciate it and urge you to continue to fight for small businesses. If there’s someone you know that is interested in taking over the inventory I’m not keeping, it would be a great opportunity for someone who wants to begin or add to their already established business.
This has been really hard for me. I’ve often felt like I’ve failed but I trust God and what He has for us. I’m excited to see the new direction my shop will take with the things I create. You never know how things will end up but I’m confident in my decision to keep it small for now.
Blessings,
