A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was create
Not a typical post from me but I saw some of these lineups a few years ago and thought it would be fun to share some of our tried and true go-to films. I love introducing these to the girls from Zack and I’s childhood over a big shared bowl of popcorn.
Now that they are a little older, we feel like most of these are appropriate for their maturity level – there’s some that may not be fit for your family-and you may not like any of these. But they are some of my all time favorites to watch and our girls love George Banks almost as much as I do. I call that a win.
The Parent Trap: I love the 60’s + the 90’s versions. I grew up on both. This is one of my girls top favorites! The mom and daughter reunion on the stairs chokes me up every time.
The Sandlot: Are you even American if you don’t love this? Really though, probably one of my childhood all time favorite movies. Benny the Jet was probably my first TV crush. I love watching this while cooking every 4th of July. Such a classic. P+S also like The Sandlot 2!
Karate Kid (the 80’s version): Old school 80’s version all the way. Mr. Miagi packed in a lot of life lessons in polishing cars. I love a comeback kid story. I totally would have included Rocky and all of its sequels but I need a whole post to describe my love for Balboa. In due time, my friends. Maybe I’ll do a great 80’s lineup.
Beethoven: I love a good Bonnie Hunt movie. I mean she’s in this lineup twice. But this was a favorite of mine growing up. Hello, it’s a dog movie. The girls LOVE this one. Also the second. And the third.
Little Giants: This probably ranks at the top for Zack but I loved this one as a kid as well.
Secretariat: One of my top favorite ALL TIME movies. This one makes me cry at the end every time. Big Red. They did such a great job with this story. The girls and I watch this one a lot. Now I’m getting a lot of lineup theme ideas-next one is horses!
Flika: I grew up with the old school one which I love and my girls really enjoy the new one-it’s one of Paisley’s favorite movies to watch. If you have horse girls, go ahead and get a copy.
The Goonies: Hello. 80’s. A classic and who doesn’t love a good treasure hunt?
Secondhand Lions: Robert Duvall. Enough said. No really, this is such a good movie and an even better story. We all love sitting down to watch this movie as a family.
Princess Diaries: SHUT UP! I’m probably an odd ball and it could have been the time period I was growing up in but this has remained one of my favorite movies of my adolescent years. So many quotes. Julie Andrews. Such a fun throw back.
Cheaper By the Dozen: Again, Steve Martin + Bonnie Hunt. I know there’s an older version but George Banks as a father to 12 is even better. We also enjoy the sequel.
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: Throw back – this guy was also in Little Giants. A good family friendly classic.
We Bought a Zoo: One of the girls favorites. A good story of perseverance, taking risks, and saying YES to living even during hard times.
Because of Winn-Dixie: This was one of my favorite books growing up and I read it with Paisley last year. The movie is just as good and an absolutely lovely story of friendship.
The Princess Bride: Once more, the 80s. I blame Zack for this one. He could probably quote this one backwards. Inconceivable!
Father of the Bride 1 + 2: I don’t think I need to explain these. But these are two of my all time favorite movies. I’m pretty sure I married George. But I adore these. They give me the warm and fuzzies anytime of the year. My kids love them. Killing this movie thing with my girls.
