I was telling Zack the other day that I felt like I am replaying Paisley’s little baby life all over again with Scout. Weren’t we just doing this like two months ago? But now, she’s on the downhill slide to turning four. F O U R. Such a big number for my baby girl. I’m not ready for backpacks, lunch boxes, or her not needing me to tie her shoes. Drinking in moments with her has been on my daily agenda. Giving grace upon grace upon grace during the toddler meltdowns, spilled milk, and hair brushing. Just like Jesus gives me each and everyday.
Three is such a hard age. She’s in the in-between of almost not a toddler but not yet a little girl. She just had a baby sister and is sharing her time so sweetly I might add. I’ve had to remind myself that this toddler “threenager” stage will too pass and I will miss it. Yes, the screaming, whining, complaining etc. I will miss it. Time is such a vapor. Instead of getting worked up, scolding, and sending her straight to timeout (oh, it will still happen) I’m going to wrap her in my arms and just love on her. Lord, thank you so much for every single day you’ve given me with this amazing child. She is so, so smart and beautiful. I am blown away with how much knowledge she has already. Her character. Her love for life. Her heart for others. She makes this mama want to be better and I am sure she teaches me more than I teach her.She is fearfully and wonderfully made. God is within her and she will not fail. (Both of my girls verses) Scout -Psalm 139:14 and Paisley’s is Psalm 46:5.
A few things I want to always remember about her in this phase of life:
- She L O V E S Toy Story and tells her daddy and I that she is a cowgirl just like Jessie!
- Said cowgirl also loves Cowgirl boots. Her fetish is already out of control #shegetsitfromhermama. The other night I brought her home a new pair of fringe cowgirls and she was almost in tears she was so excited. Then preceded to put them on in panties and t-shirt. Cutest ever.
- Pioneer Woman on Food Network trumps all other television programs she likes to watch. We have to DVR the “cook show” because it’s her favorite. I don’t mind it either.
- She calls her sister “cutie” and loves helping me feed her, reminding me that I need to take the bottle out of her mouth and “give her a breath.” :)
