Favorite Chapter Books

Favorite Chapter Books

I've always been a reader and when my oldest started to take interest, I was thrilled! One of Paisley and I's favorite things to do is to curl up under a blanket and dive into a good book. It's been fun re-reading some of my old favorites as well as the classics. Scout is starting to get into some younger series like Hank the Cowdog and those usually make us belly laugh to tears. If you haven't listened to the podcast, it's a must! I wanted to share just a few favorite chapter books of ours. Most we've already read but some are also on our list. We stated reading one chapter book out loud together this year and it's been so fun and something I look forward to doing with the girls. I plan to share a few "themed book" posts later this year but this is a good start to adding some greats you'll want in your home library. We also have checked several of these out and returned too. Where the...

Meat + Cheese Sliders

Meat + Cheese Sliders

Probably one of the easiest meals I make for the guys that always turns out great, is quick, and I am not spending a ton on ingredients. My meat and cheese sliders are scrumptious and what I love most is you can choose whatever meat and cheese you prefer! I usually make them different each time. Be sure to check my instagram for a fun little step-by-step reel. This downloadable card is at the bottom. Ingredients: Meat of your choice (for these I used Cajun turkey and ham from the deli in our local grocery store)Pepper jack cheese and provolone cheese also from the deli (you don't have to use two - we just like them this way)3/4 cup melted butter1 tablespoon Dijon mustard1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce1 teaspoon brown sugar1 tablespoon poppy seeds1 tablespoon garlic salt12 pack King's Hawaiian Dinner Rolls Directions: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.Grease 9 x 13" baking dish with...

Haykid Summer

Haykid Summer

Summer is for hay. When Dad is out in the field, we try to have some fun when we visit and take a meal. I love that the girls get to experience this life and see that every part of farming and ranching is important. On this particular day, he just finished up with a job and started stacking the bales in rows for a client to pick up. The girls got to hop on the tractor with him and help him for a bit and LOVED it. They will be out there in no time. Afterwards we let them run across the rows for awhile and it brought back a lot of memories of my cousins and I doing the same at that age. I mean, are you even a Farm/Ranch kid if you've never done that? Long live summer and unplugged, rural childhoods.

4th of July 2021

4th of July 2021

4th of July being on a Sunday through off lots of festivities in our area to Monday but we had a great time with the girls. We ended up having a slow day after a great Church service then grilling and popping fireworks with friend's. Our town had their stuff on the 5th and we got to watch Zack again in the Fire vs. PD annual softball game. I took the girls to this fun mural that's in a small town not far from us. I've always loved it and wanted to snap a few with their dogs in these fun tees. I love this new company I found. The tees are so nice and I have linked them for you here. So thankful to live in a free country. Hope you all had a wonderful independence day.

On to Week 2: Mental Toughness

On to Week 2: Mental Toughness

I have over a week under my belt since starting this "mental toughness" project. When I complete it in September I will share all that I've learned, progress, and exactly what I've been doing. But for now, I wanted to share a few tidbits on what I've come to realize in the last week. I waste a lot of time. The certain things I've HAD to get done to do this have made me learn to prioritize it better.I can do hard things.I was super addicted to sugar.Said sugar/caffeine gives me a lot of brain fog.I feel and sleep so much better when I work out.I'm not as mentally tough as I thought it was. This project takes discipline. I'm excited to see what is to come in the next 8 weeks.Wear the shorts and wear the tank tops. Life is to short to care about what other people think of your body. You do YOU. If you like it, rock it sister. (coming from someone who's terrified to wear tank tops in front...

Rural Revival

Rural Revival

I had the opportunity to sit down with Danna Larson of Rural Revival in April and talk about Farm Girl's new location, rebranding, Hayfield Meals, Home Design, and all of the things and projects going on within my Brand. I've loved listening to her show for years and it was an honor to share my story. All of the show note links and some extras can be found on my episode post here. You can catch me on Episode 117 of Rural Revival on all podcast platforms and there's also a little extra for RR listeners at the end. I'm so thankful for this gal, her heart, and all that she does to support rural America and its revival.
