Our sweet Sawyer Scout is one month old today! Time has flown by! I feel like life with two really goes by quicker than the first time around. Life has happened, my house is a mess, but my heart is completely full. I was so nervous about the transition from a family of three to four, but it has been completely amazing. It’s been hard to adjust to a new and functional routine but we will get there. Seeing both of my girls together and the love that Paisley has for her just makes my heart burst. Paisley was such an easy baby so I thought Scout may be the opposite but she is even easier. Crazy, I know. I am sure that it can change anytime but I am taking all of the sleep that I can get and being super thankful for it. The first three weeks I had to wake her up to feed her! From the moment we had her, Scout has had the most laid-back personality. She literally only cries when she is being changed, getting a bath, or hungry. She loves to be held and snuggle all day long which makes this mama super spoiled. Give me all the baby head smelling.
Scout at ONE month
Weight: 10 pounds 12 ounces
Height: 21.5 inches
Clothes: Newborn and some 0-3 months
E A T: Our days start out with breakfast and snuggles when I wake up. Breastfeeding didn’t work for us. After three weeks of trying, pumping every two hours, lots of frustration and tears, I just wasn’t making any milk. This happened with Paisley too so I was really optimistic this round and wanted so badly to be able to feed her but I just couldn’t. And, that’s ok. She has taken to the bottle very well and has adjusted to the formula. She eats about every 3 hours and only gets up to eat once at night.
D A Y T I M E: After she eats we get dressed, get sister ready, and head to Farm Girl for a few hours to work. She has been doing so awesome at the store. She naps most of the day while I get my main duties done and the rest of the time we get to cuddle and visit. So thankful for an easy baby. I bought a Solly wrap to wear while I work when she starts staying awake more often. If she will continue to stay this simple it’s going to give me fever for another soon. (husband rolls eyes and laughs.) But really Zack, babies are my love language. She has changed so much over the last few days. I am starting to see more of Paisley in her-with expressions and the way she loves to sleep. Her hair is still as thick as ever and she is becoming more alert with her pretty deep blue eyes like mama. I see so much of Zack in her too. I think she will be his little mini me. I am so excited to see her grow and watch her change. Paisley has also been the best helper with her; grabbing diapers, putting the paci back in sister’s mouth when she spits it out, and helping me feed her is her favorite little job.
P L A Y: Obviously she is a little small for play, but she is super strong, lifting her head every chance she can and her alertness amazes me. She loves to be propped up on my shoulder to look around and observe her surroundings.
S L E E P: I can’t say it enough but we are so blessed with a n o t h e r amazing sleeper. Paisley started sleeping through the night at one month and Scout has followed suit. If she wakes at night, it’s to eat and then she is back to sleep. Dr. M told us after three weeks that if she slept through the night, don’t wake her up to eat. So, we are following orders. But honestly, I am going to miss those 1-2 nighttime feedings. During the day she naps and is awake for 45 minutes to an hour at a time.
