Potty Chair For The Win

January 18, 2014

18 Jan
I am so excited for Paisley! Today she went to the potty for the first time. I have been trying to let her run around the house with her diaper off just to see if she might let me know before she goes. She is really good about wanting changed and telling us but it is always after the fact.
This morning I took her diaper off and she was brushing her teeth in her bathroom. She kept sitting on the potty and saying “pootteeeyyy, poottey!” But she wouldn’t do anything. After a couple of minutes her face said it all and she starting doing the “potty dance.” We caught it just in time and I told her to sit on the potty and pee pee like a big girl and she did!
I hope this keeps getting better and she gets used to it. We haven’t forced her because I am sure that would just make it worse. Any moms have potty training tips?

Aw she’s so cute!! You go girl! :) My best tip is ………….when she’s ready, she’s ready. :) And praise her like crazy when she does go.

Yay, that is so exciting! I can’t say I have any great tips, I just asked my son every fifteen or so minutes if he had to go potty yet and I paid close attention to him. When he did go I made a huge deal out of it :)

Another firm believer of “when they’re ready, they’re ready.” I had two completely opposite potty learning experiences with my sons. The first, up and decided one day that he was done with diapers. He was only 17 months, so we thought it was too soon…but went with it…off came the diapers and he never looked back. My second was 3.5 years old. We tried very unsuccessfully several times, and finally realized that he just wasn’t ready. We let him take the lead and when the day came that he said he wanted “undies,” we knew the timing was better. I truly feel that there is no one set age for potty learning and that all kids are different. In our experience, when they were ready, it was much easier…and we had very little accidents.

(We cloth diapered and went straight from those to underwear. We didn’t do Pull-Ups….so cold turkey? I guess you would say was how we did it.)

Way to go, to your little P! She is so adorable!! Congrats on this new stage, mama! They grow up too fast!!!

      HUGS,
      Jessica

Thank you so much Jessica! This is all new to me being my first time and I love all of the advice and tips I can get. :) She hates being dirty so I hope that she finds this easier. Thanks again for the encouragement! :)

What a big milestone! Once they are fully potty trained it is so freeing! I loved not having to lug around diapers and wipes everywhere!
