It seems impossible that it has been a year already. This day last year I was running around our house like a crazy woman prepping for Paisley’s arrival. February 6, 2012 was my due date and thank God we had made it full term. Zack was in aviation school all day and when he got home that afternoon I had all of our things packed and ready to go to the hospital and to stay two weeks at my parents so my mom could help me while Zack was in school. I thought all day at how different our life would be. We would be parents for crying out loud. I thought about all the things I wanted to do with her, all of the things I wanted to teach her, how I couldn’t wait for her to be in my arms.
We were going to Stillwater that night to check into our hotel and have a nice dinner for the last time as a family of two. Since they were going to induce me early the next morning, we didn’t want to have to make that drive at 5:00 a.m. We stopped at one of our favorite restaurants just inside of Stillwater for some of the best Mexican food you will ever eat. Half way through our meal I began to have contractions. I knew this was it so I started to time them. We decided to go straight to the hospital to have one of my nurses check me and I was definitely in labor. They didn’t want to break my water until 7:00 the next morning so I labored over night and tried to get as much rest as possible.
|Right after we checked in.|
The next 26 hours of labor was tough but when Paisley made her arrival, I will never forget that moment, that sound, and the beautiful first look at my daughter.
Big girl birthday post will come tomorrow.
