I thought it would be fun to share some of the things I used to decorate our Christmas tree with.
I bought this tree about a month ago at Hobby Lobby for 1/2 off! I will not buy one unless it is pre-lit anymore. Lazy? Maybe but since we all have bad allergies, I just think it wouldn’t be so holly jolly around here if we went and cut one down.
My Mom also bought me a separate tree stand from Hobby Lobby that makes your tree constantly rotate. I love that so everyone can see all of the ornaments.
I don’t know about you, but I have a certain way and order I like to decorate the tree. I always start with the garland first.
I found the red felt garland from West Elm and the burlap garland with bells was a gift from my mom last year.
Next, I add the ornaments and the filler. I had Paisley and I lay them all out because some of them I bought about 4 or five of the same. For the filler, I bought branches with gold and bronzed glittered pinecones and I also bought the white berry branches to fill some of the gaps.
Our tree’s theme is sort of the woodsy and winter cottage theme. I wanted it to somewhat go with our house. I bought a lot of the ornaments at a boutique I frequent in Texas, on sale last year at Pier 1, Hobby Lobby, and a lot of stores here and there. The quotes I had bought for another project but I thought that it would be cute to use them on the tree as well. I also made the burlap bows. The ornament on the bottom right was a wedding gift from one of my bridesmaids. She gave it to me the night of our rehearsal dinner (we married the week before Christmas) and had torn strips of our wedding announcement and put into the bulb with glitter and feathers. She also put our wedding date and our first Christmas tag on it. Such a precious gift to me.
I also bought different snowflakes and owls since Paisley is in love with them. The burlap flowers actually are for an arrangement on my front porch but I also thought they looked just as cute on the tree.
Next I like to clean up under the tree and add the skirt.
I have been dying to make the DIY tutorial for the burlap tree skirt but I am by no means a seamstress and do not have the time. I got this one from World Market when they were having a sale.
Last, Zack puts on the tree topper.
That is our tree! Pretty simple but I love our theme. I can’t wait to make homemade ornaments with Paisley to add to it.
What is on your Christmas tree?
