I wanted something fun to take to our Easter celebration tomorrow and I found a recipe to make “Egg Krispies.” In translation: Rice Krispy treats in egg form.
I know the kids will love these and they are simple and messy easy to fix.
What you will need:
- Large sauce pan
- 4 Tablespoons Butter (half of a stick)
- 6 cups Rice Krispies
- Plastic Easter Eggs
- 1 10 ounce package Mini Marshmallows
- Sprinkles (optional but they make them festive)
- Small Chocolate Easter Eggs (optional)
- Egg Carton
Add butter to your saucepan and melt over medium heat. Our stove gets hot really fast since it is electric so make sure you don’t have it turned up too high.
Add the “mallows.” (Sandlot reference) =)
Stir together until they are melted and super “gooey.”
Add Rice Krispies.
Stir around until it is evenly mixed.
Lightly spray inside the egg with cooking spray. I bought the regular sized eggs but I also bought larger eggs because I didn’t think they would be big enough. I found that the regular sized eggs worked best and stayed together better than the others.
Stuff half the egg with the mixture and add a chocolate egg to the center. Like I said, this is optional. I made most of mine without the chocolate.
Next, fill the other half of the egg with the Krispy mixture and close the halves together.
Let the mixture set in the egg for about a minute and then remove. Add sprinkles and set them in the carton to cool.
That’s all there is to it! Simple and easy!
***Tip: I had my husband help me fill the eggs with the mixture to speed up the process. Your mixture sticks to the pan and cools very easy, therefore seeming impossible to scrape off of the pan. Lesson learned.
Hope this is something you can take to your Easter gathering that the kids will enjoy!
