It’s crazy to think another year is coming to an end. Many changes, new beginnings, good times, and really hard times too. Jobs, holidays, our oldest starting school for the first time, our youngest turned one, milestones and memories. We were really intentional with our family time this year and our relationships with our friends. Many lessons learned and blessings reaped as well. God is so good to us and I can’t wait to start a fresh new year with our family. Here are a few highlights by month.
This month was a really big one for our family. http://farmgirlblogs.com/essay-about-home/ from the Fire Academy and the same day landed his dream job working for Ada Fire Department. What an amazing graduation present! We are so proud of all of his hard work he put into school, his job interview, and all year as he starts his career as a fireman. And look how little our babies were. :( We are about to outgrow this sink and it brings me to tears to think about it. Sink bubble baths have always been one of this little girl’s favorite things.
In February we spent time welcoming new life to the farm with Paisley’s goat having babies. Paisley turned the big four and we celebrated her life with a cowgirl party, of course! I celebrated my birthday with a home cooked meal with my parents and family. And look at our cute little valentines. Matching jams is one of the perks of being a girl mom to two cute little sisters. We took a weekend trip to Branson and stayed in a tree house!Mastered the art of Pioneer Woman cinnamon rolls, and finally finished a room project by adding our bed and headboard.
Paisley had her four year old photos this month that made her really look like a big girl. :( Scout started daycare and Paisley started coming to work with me until she began school in August. We had fun over Spring Break, had too many snow cones, visited the library, had fun with friends, celebrated Easter, and finished another addition to our room.
Zack started his new job with Ada Fire this month and we kicked off our first visit to the station with their annual pancake fry. We enjoyed this month fishing with Papaw, spending our days at the park, finishing another DIY project and planning this month’s Pursuit gathering at The Plant Shoppe.
We spent may feeding cows with Papaw, fishing, celebrated Mother’s Day by dedicating Scout at our church and having a mother’s day photo session and surprise video from Zack and the girls. So, so special. Zack and I had a fun date night this month at Third Friday while the girls spent a weekend at Nana’s making cookies. I completed another project with the famous blue settee. YES, I painted fabric! We started a garden that
sort of ended up failing in the end but we are going to try again this coming year and finally adjusted to our new lives as a fire family and new schedules for us.
This month was full of memories. We celebrated my Dad’s birthday, Zack’s Birthday, Scout’s Birthday and Father’s Day. Scout turned one and we enjoyed a fun, Farmer’s Market themed party in my Nana’s backyard. We had a lemonade and cupcake stand at Farm Girl for Cruising main with friends, spent many hours in the pool, had a family date night, and my friend Aubrey totally knocked Scout’s 1 year photos out of the park.
This month was a big one for our family. We finished summer by taking numerous trips to visit the cows, put together puzzles, celebrated my bestie’s birthday, hosted Supper Club at our home, Paisley started school, I finished one of the best books I’ve ever read, we got back-to-school haircuts and went shopping, and started a new school routine in our house.
September was a hard month for our family. My Papa Tom passed away and we lost my dog Bear of almost 10 years. It broke my heart to make the decision to let him rest but Zack and I couldn’t let him suffer. We also had to put Paisley’s horse down from cancer. Farm Girl Celebrated two years of business with a Farm Girl Fiesta and I had a girls night with my besties.
We welcomed fall with open arms. We spent our weekends either in Stillwater at the football field or jumping in the leaves at home. Scout and I had a fun girls day of shopping, while paisley and daddy went to a game. We took the girls to the pumpkin patch and botanical gardens, Paisley had her first school project, we decorated the house and I completed another project by painting our front door red. Paisley had a pajama party at school, our Makers group started this month and we had our first gathering, welcomed a new puppy to our family for the girls, we took a school field trip to the pumpkin patch, and we spent Halloween with friends, the girls dressing up as Dorothy and Glinda.
November was a whirlwind. We were busy bees at Farm Girl, getting ready for Black Friday and Christmas. Thanksgiving was spent at my Nana’s and I made my first ever homemade rolls. The girls had an adorable Camper themed photo session with my friend Aubrey and we also had our annual fall family photos taken, we had our Makers gathering at The Quart House for Friendsgiving, and we spent the remainder of the month excited for Christmas plans.
Our busiest month of the year it seems like. Archie came back from the North Pole, we took the kids with our friends on our annual Polar Express Trip, celebrated 5 years of marriage with a trip to Broken Bow, started a new Christmas tradition, had our first Makers Christmas party, Supper Club Christmas Party, and Pursuit Christmas party. Sent out Christmas cards + letters, celebrated Christmas with our families, birthday parties, Paisley’s school sing a long and party, took a trip at the end of the year to the new Pioneer Woman Mercantile, and had a family party at the new fire station. Party on. I’m so excited for what 2017 has to offer. Next year I want to continue to be more intentional with my time, work harder, play harder with my family, and pursue Christ more than I ever have. I want to work more on me, mentally and physically, love my kids and husband fiercely, and continue to nurture our precious friendships. I hope you have a blessed New Year!
